Dublin is a very busy old city with a great deal of charm and interest for the visitor. It is situated on the east coast of Ireland. Dublin was founded by the Vikings in the ninth century. Dublin was captured by the Normans in 1170. The Normans came via England from that part of France called Normandy. Normandy itself had been overun by the Vikings in the Ninth century. It is interesting that some of the family names were common to both the Dubliners and the Normans. The city centre is relatively small and many of the places of historical attaction can be easily included in a short stroll.
Dublin has a large number of Pubs, and many are worth visiting. You may find one to sit in and sample the refreshments on offer, or you may choose to exercise your legs and visit a few others. This is now no longer a walk and is referred to as a "Pub Crawl"
